Introducing The "Anxiety and the Breath" Workshop

This workshop is designed specifically for parents, caregivers and teachers who want to support their children in managing anxiety through effective breathwork practices.

As a family yoga teacher with years of experience in pranayama (yogic breath control), I have come to learn about the powerful connection between our breath, emotions, and anxiety.

Not a morning goes by where I don't take a few moments to connect with my breath with intention.

Why Breathwork?

Breathwork is a simple yet incredibly effective tool for calming the nervous system and reducing anxiety. By teaching your child how to leverage their breath, you can help them develop a lifelong skill that promotes emotional well-being and resilience. A skill that can be practiced any time and any where.

Workshop Highlights

In this workshop we will be diving into 3 main areas of focus.

Emotions and the Breath

Learn how our breath is intimately tied to our emotions. In this part of the workshop we'll be exploring the purpose of breathwork and how we can use the breath to regulate our emotions. It's not about 'calming down' so much as feeling our feelings.

The Impact of Breath on Anxiety

In this part of the class we will be looking at the nervous system, stress responses and Patanjali's 5 Mental Fluctuations as outlines in the Yoga Sutras. We will talk about how anxiety shows up and how we can use our breath to support us during anxious moments.

Building a Relationship with the Breath

In this part of our class, I share how we can support children in building a relationship with their breath. This is not about quick fixes or 'try this one time'. True, lasting relief comes from teaching our children effective coping mechanisms and fostering a supportive environment for our child to grow and thrive.

Purpose of this workshop

Who am I?

Hi, my names Natasha and I have been teaching children's and family yoga since 2017. I have had many students in my classes, many of them who have had struggles with anxiety. I can remember one boy in particular, who was so anxious about even joining in with the class. A few sessions later he was running around and leading the game we were playing, completely at ease. He was also able to take this out of the class too. His parents told me how he was using our breathwork practices to help himself settle at bedtime when anxiety was at it's worse. I was so happy that he was finding some ease with anxiety. From children with separation anxiety , social anxiety, school anxiety and general feelings of worry and stress, it's always nice to work with them to create more peace within. Anxiety is complex, and unfortunately there is no magic button or any quick fixes. That is why it's more important than ever to do what we can to make these practices a lasting part of our children's routines, so that they may find ease now but also have the tools to manage stress, anxiety and overwhelm as they grow older.
